Job Costing: Set-Up Guide

Boost your business growth with Markate's Job Costing feature. Easily track and report the costs for each job, helping you make smarter decisions.

Job Costing lets you keep an eye on expenses like expenses, labor, materials and overheads. With clear reports, you can see job costs and profit margins to make better business choices.


Step-by-Step Guide


This step-by-step guide provides all the essentials to help you navigate and make the most of the Job Costing feature. 


  • Login to your Markate account.

  • To get started with Job Costing for your Work Orders,

  • Hover over Sales > Click Work Orders



  • Create Work Order for your Customer
  • Once Work Order is created
  • Go to Work Orders Table or Pipeline view
  • Click on the particular Work Order for calculating Job Costing




  • On the Work Order page, click View Job Costing




  • It navigates to the Job Costing breakdown
  • Add/Edit Item(s) Cost, Expenses Amount, Labour cost and any overheads
  • You can also Delete the costs if added incorrectly by clicking Delete icon




  • As you Save the Item(s) Cost, Expenses Amount or Labour cost,
  • Job Costing for this particular Work Order shows up on the top
  • All the costs are populated and Profitability is calculated automatically.


Note: This Job Costing is for selected Work Order Only.




REPORTING

  • Click Reports
  • Click Job Costing (available under Work Orders Reports)



Along with Work Order details, the Job Costing report includes the following columns:

  • Job Total
  • Items Cost
  • Expenses
  • Labour
  • Profit - Job Total - (Items cost + Expenses + Labour)
  • Profit Margin - ((Profit/Job Total) * 100
