1. What is the Google Contacts Connector?
The Google Contacts Connector allows you to export your Markate Customers, Service Addresses, and Additional Contacts directly into your Google Contacts. This ensures your business contacts are available across all your Google-connected devices, like your smartphone, for easier caller ID and communication.
2. How do I connect my Google Account?
Navigate to More > Connector > Google Contacts
Click Manage.
Click the Connect button.
Follow the Google authentication prompts to sign in and grant Markate permission to access your contacts.
3. What information is exported to Google?
The integration currently supports the export of three main resources:
Customers: Your primary customer database.
Customer Service Addresses: Locations associated with your customers.
Customer Additional Contacts: Secondary names and numbers linked to a customer profile.
4. How do I sync my contacts?
Once connected, click the Export to Google Contacts button. The system will process your records and display a summary of:
Total: The number of records in Markate.
Exported: Records successfully moved to Google.
Failed: Records that encountered an error during the process.
5. I received an "Insufficient Authentication Scopes" error. How do I fix it?
This error occurs when the connection lacks the necessary permissions to write data to your Google account.
Solution: Click Disconnect on the Google Contacts page in Markate, then click Connect again. When the Google permission screen appears, ensure you check the box that allows Markate to "See, edit, download, and permanently delete your contacts."
6. Why are my records failing to export?
If you see failed records in your summary, it is usually due to:
Expired Connection: Your Google login session may have timed out.
Missing Data: The record may be missing a name or valid contact method.
Authentication: Lack of proper permissions.
7. Where can I see the details of failed exports?
You can click the View Log button at any time. This page provides a line-by-line breakdown of every export attempt, showing the specific Markate Resource (name), the date/time, and the exact Error Message returned by Google.
8. Does this sync both ways (Two-Way Sync)?
Currently, this is a one-way export from Markate to Google Contacts. Changes made in Google Contacts will not automatically update back into your Markate account.
9. Is there a cost for this connector?
No. The Google Contacts Connector is a Free for all Markate users.
